In 2000, FPD, in association with the International AIDS Society and Dira Sengwe, brought the largest Conference to the shores of Africa. With 13000 delegates, the 2000 International AIDS Conference in Durban was the 1st of the macro events ever held in Africa. FPD is registered as a private company of which 20% is owned by its staff and 80% by the South African Medical Association, a not for profit section 21 company. FPD was rated on the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) scorecard in 2008 and we have been awarded level 1 BBBEE status.
